FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday April 1, 2020

West Sacramento, CA. April 2, 2020 - The Burgess Brothers activate Avengers Hospitality at Sutter Health Park to serve public safety

While baseball season is postponed, Sutter Health Park's kitchen will get a pre-season workout feeding firefighters in the greater Sacramento region.

In partnership with Sutter Health Park, Home of the Sacramento River Cats, the Burgess Brothers are keeping their employees hard at work preparing and packaging their signature meals.  After baseball season was postponed, The Burgess Brothers approached The Sacramento River Cat's leadership team and pitched the idea of putting the empty kitchen to work.  “Our goal is to provide affordable, delicious and signature meals to members of public safety, their families, and our senior citizens,” said Jonathan Burgess.

The Rotary Club of Elk Grove has graciously sponsored 200 meals for the Cosumnes Fire Department’s first responders who are keeping their community safe while they battle COVID-19. Once the meals are packaged and ready for distribution, FoodJets services will transport meals to the Cosumnes fire stations in Elk Grove and Galt.

“Providing our meals to fire stations will lighten the load and encourage some of the social distancing measures. We may find a need to begin eating in shifts and spread out versus our traditional around-the-dinner table style of eating”, said Burgess.

"There have been members of public safety that have symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 and I can't think of a better way to help than sending prepared meals delivered to their families while they are getting healthy" said Burgess.  In the last 48 hours we have had a number of other sponsors including Real Life Church of Natomas who have sponsored meals for each fire station in Natomas.

The Rotary Club of Elk Grove was chartered on April 24, 1962 and continues to represent the highest ideals through its service-oriented programs both at home and abroad.  The foundation is a public charity serving the population of southern Sacramento County, California, and particularly, the City of Elk Grove.  In 2012 we celebrated our 50th Year Anniversary! Our 2019-2020 Rotary theme is “Rotary Connects the World” and we aspire to do that with every project and every gathering that we put on.

Our club is made up primarily of business owners, academia faculty and individuals who have a calling to give back to others in the community. We normally meet weekly on Wednesday’s at 12 pm at the Hilton Garden Inn on Elk Grove Blvd, but given the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently meeting online and we love visitors so please visit our website for meeting updates! https://elkgroverotary.org/
